Homestead Preserve Announces Builders and Prepares for Construction of First Homes

Hot Springs, Virginia, November 14, 2005 - After more than four years of extensive architectural research and planning, Homestead Preserve is poised to begin construction of the community’s first homes this fall and has announced five Featured Builder Program members who have been approved to work within this unique conservation-based community. Situated on 2,300 scenic acres surrounding the villages of Hot Springs and Warm Springs, Homestead Preserve’s homes will reflect the authentic architectural vernacular of Bath County and the surrounding Allegheny mountains.

Among the five approved builders is the Virginia Hot Springs Building Company, which can be found online at www.virginiahotsprings.com. “Bath County is a beautiful environment steeped in history and tradition,” says VHS Building Company president Don Killoren, who has worked in real estate development and residential construction since 1972. “We do well in this kind of setting. We know how to design homes that fit beautifully into already existing special places.”

The custom builders approved for Homestead Preserve’s featured builder program include John Bell Company, a family-owned firm out of Lewisburg, WV, known for historic restorations and home construction at The Greenbrier. J.M Turner Homes, Inc., of Roanoke, VA, has also built custom homes at The Greenbrier. Southern Living builder R.L. Hinnant Design, based in Lexington, will also be constructing Homestead Preserve residences, as will the Bath County based company Andrew Watkins Custom Homebuilding.

Killoren, who also serves as Director of Development for Homestead Preserve, is excited to see home construction get underway. “We have everything we need here for success,” he explains. “This is a fully financed project and a unique opportunity for all of us.”

Homestead Preserve developers Charles Adams and partner Don Killoren were instrumental in the design and development of Celebration, Florida, near Orlando, which was hailed as the “Most Advanced Community in the Country from 1996-1998” by The Guinness Book of World Records. Crosland, Inc. of Charlotte, NC is a financial partner in Homestead Preserve, and Crosland’s President and CEO Todd Mansfield was also directly involved in the development and success of Celebration, Florida. Crosland, Inc. is one of the Southeast’s leading and most diversified real estate companies. For more information, call Deborah Huso at (540) 839-5147, or e-mail drhuso@writewellmedia.com.
