Crosland to Develop Village Center Along Florida’s Gulf Coast

Charlotte, N.C., November 1, 2006 – Crosland Inc., one of the leading developers in the southeast, has announced plans to develop 31-acre village center at the perimeter of MiraBay, the 750-acre waterfront community in Apollo Beach just outside of Tampa.

“The development of MiraBay Village will reflect Crosland’s growing portfolio of residential and retail projects in the Florida market,” said Mike Wiggins, senior vice president with Crosland’s Retail division. “We look forward to sharing our sense of place making with this market and creating a community gathering place for residents and visitors alike.”

Anchored by a 50,000 square foot Sweetbay Supermarket, the site will include 175,000 square feet of specialty shops, restaurants, and office space in addition to 80 townhomes. The architectural style of the village will reflect the coastal living design associated with MiraBay, featuring fine workmanship and thoughtful features.

Signature design elements for which Crosland is known will be found throughout the property including extra wide pedestrian sidewalks, a fountain plaza, as well as heavily landscaped and programmed hardscaped areas for outdoor dining and entertainment.

“Our goal is to create a place for the people of MiraBay to enjoy while being able to accomplish their daily shopping needs in a convenient and friendly environment,” said Perry Reader, President of the Crosland’s Florida division that is working in conjunction with the retail division on this mixed-use project.

Sweetbay Supermarkets combine passion, knowledge and excitement with outstanding quality, value and variety to offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience to Floridians. The store will offer fresh-picked produce, top-quality meats, diverse ethnic offerings, oven-fresh baked goods, an expansive deli selection and well-stocked grocery aisles.

MiraBay Village is one of Crosland’s eight retail development projects in the Florida market including ventures in North Jacksonville, Pasco County and Spring Hill. Crosland also has residential communities in the Tampa and Orlando metropolitan areas, such as Longleaf in Pasco County. Project construction will begin late fall with Sweetbay anticipating a first quarter grand opening in 2008.
